Summary:

The Southern Indiana Paranormal Investigators and MESA conducted an investigation of
an undisclosed Boonville, Indiana home. The energies recorded and evidence found
during the investigation revealed that the home is currently active, and has a variety of
haunt activity present.

Introduction:

MESA did a presentation at the Newburgh, IN. Ghost Walks, in October, and a
person came forward to tell us about her home. She had experienced the gamut of haunt
phenomena there. The home and names cannot be disclosed for confidential reasons.
The owner had moved there in February of 2005. She has been there for approximately 9
months. The home was built in the 1910's but the exact year is not known. The owner
reported apparitions, acoustic phenomena, sensed presences, sudden emotional changes,
tactile sensations, erratic functioning of equipment, cold spots, floating lights and
luminous phenomena, and object movement. The phenomena had rich and enduring
quality to it, and the team also experienced several things during the investigation.

Method: The researchers set up MESA, the 2-camera digital magnetometer system, and
infrared video cameras in one place for a 2-hour sampling period in the back bedroom.
MESA was also complemented with digital still and Hi 8mm video cameras, and other equipment supplied by the Southern Indiana Paranormal Investigators.

Apparatus: The MESA computer system has been described elsewhere (harte, Black,
Hollinshead, 1999; Harte, black, Hollinshead, & Mitchell, 2001) and this investigation
will focus on anomalous results of this investigation. The researchers are primarily
looking for a 7 mG change in the graph, or other anomalous information. A sampling
rate of 40 times per second was programmed, as this is the usual rate. Sound and video
systems were utilized at this site. An infrared camera (Clover Electronics,
www.cloverelectronics.com) and PZM (pressure zone microphone, Radio Shack) were
connected to a video cassette recorded.

Photographs: Several photographs reveal orb activity with digital cameras and
35 mm cameras.

Video: Infrared light camera revealed some shadows that cannot be explained. There
were also some audio bumps with these shadows. In the front room, a red streak or moving orb was also
captured during an EVP session on the Hi 8 video camera.

Audio: Some inexplicable bumps appear at the same time as the shadows on the
infrared camera. There is one EVP we analyzed and it sounds like is a male voice saying "Steve Miller".

Subjective results: The team experienced many things during the investigation. CB's
batteries went dead in her camera immediately upon arrival. (It is a HP Photosmart M305, 3.2 MB
digital camera). Orbs were observed in the home, caught on video in the attic, and outside the home on digital camera. While recording in the front room, a visible orb shoots over Adria's shoulder an down in front of her body. Olfactory phenomenon included aftershave (like old spice), and what could only be described as "an old
man." This smell permeated the home at different times during the investigation. Headaches
were experienced by the team (DD and TH). Two member of the team were "touched" or
their shirt was grabbed in the front room (CB and AM). CB's small blue penlight also went
on and off while sitting on a table, and no one was touching it at the time. Lastly, drawers
in a dresser were mysteriously opened while the team was recording in the front room.

Discussion: The researchers are confident about the results, especially with the infrared
light, vibration, and static magnetic fields. The types of physical energy recorded may
cause people to experience some types of unusual phenomena. More research of the home and area needed
to determine the cause of this phenomena.

Graph: 1

Channel 1: Infrared light sensor: The infrared shows some unusual negative patterns,
and a drop off at.....

Graph: 2

Channel 2: Visible light sensor: the visible light is also normal, no unusual fluctuations.
This is normal for this site.

Graph: 3

Channel 3: Ultraviolet light sensor: The ultraviolet sensor did not record any UV light at
this site.

Graph: 4

Channel 4: Tri-Field Meter: The Tri-Field Meter recorded normal changes during this
sampling period. These levels were about 0.25 mG throughout the sampling period. it
gets very quiet after the first hour. What would account for this would be a 60 Hz
electricity source from wiring in the room.

Graph: 5

Channel 5: Vibration: This sensor recorded the vibration of the floor in this room, and it
appears to be unusual. The vibration results show two interesting changes, at... and at....
minutes. the floor moves up, and then it is steady again. This is a wood floor and the graph shows two unusual events.

Channel 7: Static magnetic sensor pointed UP:

Graph: 8

Channel 8: Static magnetic sensor pointed UP: This.... The researchers think this is enough of a change that it could cause some type of haunt phenomena. More research needs to be established to see if the magnetic field fluctuates in the area.

LST 325

LST 325 Evansville, IN
October 30, 2005
Researchers: Billy Miller, Adria Vanover, Connie Boyer, George Hall, Timothy M. Harte
By Timothy M. Harte, MA, LCPC

Summary:

The LST 325 is located at Marina Pointe, Evansville, Indiana. Fox 7 News asked MESA to investigate the ship and record haunt phenomena. The team captured some unusual motion, and one magnectic sensor showed unusual activity.

Introduction:

LST is a Landing Ship Tank Class 1. It was laid down 10 August 1942, at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, Philadelphia, PA. It was launched 27 October 1942. It was commissioned USS LTS-325 on 1 February 1943, with Ira Ehrensall, USNR, in command. During World War II, the LST-325 was assigned to the European Theater of Operation (ETO) and particpated in the Sicilian occupation in July of 1943, and the Invasion of Normandy in June of 1944. The ship was decommissioned 2 July 1946, at Green Cove Springs, FL. The ship was again placed in service with MSTS in 1951 as USNS T-LST-325. It was then placed out of service, date unknown. The ship was struck from the Naval Register on 1 September 1961. It was then transferred to MARAD for lyy up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet. The US reacquired it in September 1963. It was then transferred to Greece under the Military Assistance Program 1 May 1964, and rename "Syros (L-144)." It operated in the Grecin navy for about three decades. "Syros" left active service in later 1990's. The ship was then reacquired by the USS LST Memorial Inc., and she sailed from Greece in December of 2000 to Mobile, AL, her future home. She arrived 10 Janyary 2001 in Mobile, AL. The ship was redesignated as Historical Museum LST-325 early 2004. Her current disposition is to serve as a tribute to all LST sailors. The LST-325 earned two battle stars for World War II service She was moored on the Ohio River at Jeffersonville, IN and then at Evansville, IN July 12 2003. The present ship still has some 40mm and 20mm guns on it. It also features a quad machine gun halftrack, and a hospitle jeep. There is also a truck on the second deck. Other specifications can be seen at http://www.navsource.org/archives/10/160325.htm The ship was used as troop and equipment transport, and is not a record of how many men met their death on the ship. It is thought to be haunted by a US Marine (his name was thought to be "Jonathan") that died while being caught in an anchor that was hoisted during World War II.

Method:

The researchers set up MESA, the 2-camera digital magnetometer system, and infrared video system in one place in the galley for a one hour sampling period. MESA was also complemented with the Vernier system, which was placed in the kitchen, adjacent to the galley.

Willard Library 2005

Willard Library Overnight Investigation 10
Date: October 29/30 2005
Researchers: Southern Indiana Paranormal Investigators, Willard Library Ghost Chatters,
Missouri Haunted Paranormal Investigators, MESA
By Timothy M. Harte, MA, LCPC

Summary:
The Willard Library Ghost Chatters and Greg Hager, the Director of the Willard Library, invited us (MESA: Multi-Energy Sensor Array) to do an investigation with their team at the Willard Library, 21 First Avenue, Evansville, Indiana. We were accompanied by the Southern Indiana Paranormal Investigators, the Missouri Haunted Paranormal Investigators, Ghost Trackers, the Willard Library Ghost Chatters, members of the Evansville Courier and Press, and the WFIE television Channel 14 news team. Several researchers experienced phenomena that would be consistent with hauntings. A gallvanic skin response sensor was fitted to the MESA computer and functioned correctly.

Introduction:
The Willard Library has a long history of haunt phenomena. Many people and employees of the library have reported strange experiences. The Willard Library was built in 1885. it is the oldest public library in Indiana. It is located at 21 First Avenue, Evansville, IN, at the corner of First Avenue and the Lloyd xpressway. It was built by Willard Carpenter, a philanthropist from whence it received his name. It was designed by James and Merritt Reed, this glorious victorian gothic structure is nestled in the Southwestern Indiana city of 1500,000 people. It was inducted into the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. According to popular sources (Hauck,1996), the Willard Library was first considered to be haunted in 1937 when a custodian quit after encountering an apparition of a "grey lady " in the basement. Since then, staff and patrons have claimed to sense the apparition's presence as a cold spot or strong odor of perfume. The apparition has been reported near the restrooms, elevator, furnace room and the children's room in the basement. In the 1950's the children's librarian Margaret Maier claimed to have seen the apparition repeatedly (Maier died in 1989). Allegedly, the apparition was also observed on a security monitor near the restrooms in 1997.

In 1992, a child reported seeing two ghosts in the children's room. The child reported seeing whom is believed to be Maier sitting in a peacock chair, and standing behind her was the apparition of the "grey lady." The grey lady is reported to be wearing clothing from the late1880's. The identity of the apparition is still debated today. However, the majority of opinions suggest that apparition is that of Louise Carpenter, the daughter of the library's founder.

Louise Carpenter once sued the library's Board of Trustees, claiming that her father was "of unsound mind and unduly influenced in establishing the {Willard} library" (www.willard.lib.in.us). She lost the suit, and as a result, her claim to any of the library's property. After her death, her spirit has allegedly returned to the library and will continue to haunt the grounds until the property and its holdings are returned back over to the living heirs of the Carpenter family.

The last sighting of the apparition was on August 7, 1997, in the basement of the library. Librarians that work in the basement have reported visual phenomena such as a grey form, strong perfume, tactile sensations on their neck and hair, and sensed presence. More recently, books have been moved out of shelves or off the shelves completely.

Method: The researchers set up MESA, the 2-camera digital magnetometer system, infrared and night shot video cameras in the Bayard Room of the third floor. The MESA system was set up for a one hour sampling period. MESA was also complemented with cameras provided by Chad and Elyssa Noonan, from Parahaunt Investigators of Indiana. A female subject, age 31 was placed in the Bayard Room and connected to a GSR unit. Another female subject, age 25 was placed in the room to observe.

Apparatus: The MESA computer system has been described elsewhere (Harte, Black, Hollinshead, 1999; Harte, Black, Hollinshead, and Mitchell, 2001) and this investigation will focus on anomalous results of the investigation. The researchers are primarily looking for a 7mG change in the graphs, or other anomalous information. A sampling rate of 40 times per second was programmed, as this is the usual rate. Sound and video systems were utilized at this site. An infrared camera (Clover Electronics, www.cloverelectronics.com ) and a PZM (pressure zone microphone, Radio Shack) were connected to a video cassette recorder. A new galvanic sensor was utilized during this sampling period. A GSR sensor that can record changes in 0 to 5 V was placed in the sampling period.

Site 1:

This site produced unusual results in several channels.

Graph 1:

Channel 1: Infrared light sensor:
The infrared light sensor malfunctioned at this site. This is reportedly because the A/D box is not working correctly. This unit still recorded some unusual changes in the infared light especially at 2 minutes into the sampling period.

Graph 2:

Channel 2: Visible light sensor:
The visible light sensor may also not be working correctly as a result of a malfunctioning A/D box. This unit also recorded unusual light at 10 and again at 35 minutes.

Graph 3:

Channel 3: Ultraviolet light sensor:
The ultraviolet light sensor did not record any UV light in the room.

Graph 4:

Channel 4: Galvanic Skin Response:
The GSR sensor recorded changes in galvanic skin response of a female subject. The GSR was very active at 16, and at 25 to 29 minutes into the sampling period.

Graph 5:

Channel 5: Tri-Field Meter:
This sensor recorded the changes in the electromagnetic 60 Hz fields. It is quite active, and recorded 3 mG down to 1.5 mG changes. This could be enough activity to cause sensed presences.

Graph 6:

Channel 6: Static magnetic sensor pointed WEST:
This sensor recorded changes at 12 minutes from 7 to 10 mG.

Graph 7:

Channel 7: Static magnetic sensor pointed UP:
This sensor had changes from 2 mG to - 5 mG before the 10 minute period. This is consistent with haunt phenomena.

Graph 8:

Channel 8: Static magnetic sensor pointed UP:
This sensor recorded changes from-5 mG to 12 mG, and with an interesting spike at 19 minutes into the sampling period. This would also be consistent with haunt phenomena.
